December: the season opens
Depending on snowfall, the season opens in mid to late December. Not every piste may be open in the first weeks, but there's nothing like fresh snow at the start of a new season. New Year week is one of the busiest of the year, so book early.
January: the snow settles
By January the snowpack has settled and most pistes are open. Families arrive in numbers when the Turkish school holidays start at the end of the month; for quieter slopes, aim for the first half of January and weekdays.
February: peak season
February usually brings the most reliable conditions. The first days of the school holidays are busy; the second half of February offers a good balance of snow and crowds.
March: sunny ski days
In March the days get longer and the sun comes out more often: firm snow in the morning, softer snow in the afternoon — the start of spring skiing. Weekdays on the pistes are pleasantly quiet.
April: the finale
In early April skiing can continue on the upper slopes while the snow retreats lower down. The last days of the season depend on conditions.
